MLB-ASMI Baseball Medicine Workshop

Major League Baseball, in partnership with the American Sports Medicine Institute (“ASMI”) located in Birmingham, Alabama, is presenting a two-day baseball medicine workshop on June 19-20, 2024, to assist underrepresented talent in sports medicine. The two days of educational coursework is to be foundational in nature for early career professionals and current students in athletic training, physical therapy, biomechanics, and performance science. Participants will be responsible for their own travel and lodging accommodations.

Topics of discussion expected during the two-day workshop:

• Elbow anatomy
• Biomechanics of the elbow in pitching
• Ultrasound evaluation of the elbow
• Elbow rehabilitation
• Pitching biomechanical analysis
• Hip injuries in baseball
• Lower extremity injuries in baseball
• Shoulder anatomy
• Conservative treatment of shoulder injuries
• Pitching injury prevention
• Career pathways
