Donna Scarborough, PT, PhD, is a biomechanist, clinician, and sports medicine scientist whose career spans applied biomechanics research, clinical practice, professional sports, and technology innovation. Currently, as Senior Sports Medicine Scientist at Mass General Brigham, her research focuses on baseball and softball biomechanics and the application of biomechanical science to sports medicine, athlete health, and performance. As VP of Clinical Solutions at FIGUR8, she pioneered the application of existing sensing technology as a novel surface mechanomyography (sMMG) sensor, now a core component of the company’s biomechanics platform.
Dr. Scarborough earned her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where her doctoral research focused on kinematic sequencing in baseball pitching. Her career at Massachusetts General Hospital has included leadership roles as Assistant Clinical Director of the MGH Biomotion Laboratory and Clinical and Research Director of the Mass General Orthopaedics Sports Performance Center. Extending this work into professional baseball, she served for four years as the first biomechanist with the Boston Red Sox, leading biomechanics integration across the organization.
